6 months!

Jack turned 6 months this past week, and he was lucky enough to be able to celebrate with his Grandma May in town.  Grandma came down for a last minute spring break trip to see her favorite grandson and of course his mommy and daddy too.  We had so much fun with her in town, but were sad to see her leave today! :(

 Jack had his 6 month checkup last Tuesday and weighed in at 20lbs 10 oz! and 28 inches long.  He continues to be in the 90-95th percentile for height, weight, and head circ. A big, but proportionate boy.  Dr. Stevens said Jack is developing wonderfully and was very impressed with how strong he is and his ability to sit up straight and with so much control.  And then of course Jack got a few shots before we could sneak out of there.  The poor kid went silent after the shots, then let out a huge scream but he calmed down quickly once I picked him up.

This past month has been a very "sick" one for Jack and us.  It all started with a tummy bug that Jack likely brought home from day care that kept him and I both home for a week.  Luckily Grandma and Grandpa Guzmann came to help us out because I was definitely not feeling well at all and Pete couldn't work from home that week.  Then we had a good week and last weekend Jack woke up with a swollen, puffy, pink eye.  We were able to get in to see his pediatrician last Sunday afternoon which was great.  She gave him a couple of prescriptions for the pink eye and another ear infection.  This time the ear infection really seemed to hurt him.  The poor kid was just miserable for about 3 straight days and would fall asleep with his hand on his ear.  Luckily the pink eye cleared up right away.  Jack got lots of loving from his Grandma this week and is now all better and ready to tackle whatever germs the day care kids want to share this week.

Jack loves to sit up and see the world around him.  He also really enjoys playing with all of the fun toys people have been so generous in giving him.  Here is a quick video my mom made this weekend when we were at work:

Another big highlight of Jack's 6th month was getting to attend the Final Four basketball games and cheering on the UCONN Huskies to victory!  Seeing as Pete is a huge UCONN fan and the Final Four was in Houston, we figured what the heck let's check it out.  We had such an amazing day checking out Bracket Town and then attending the games.  Jack was a good sport and definitely the cutest Husky fan in the crowd.  Here are a few pictures from the day:

We also heard that the Final Four will be back in Houston in 2016.  Pete and I are already looking forward to taking Jack in five years because I'm sure he will really enjoy the Bracket Town events when he is 5 1/2 years old.  There were just so many fun things to do, especially for kids.
